Welcome to the official site for the

West Feliciana Parish Humane Society.

In 1999, a group of dedicated volunteers founded the West Feliciana Humane Society.   We seek to care for the creatures that God entrusted to mankind. It's the responsibility of all people to help those that can't help themselves.

Our Mission

As the West Feliciana Humane Society in St. Francisville, Louisiana it is our mission to find loving homes for displaced pets in our area. We provide love, food, and healthcare to animals that may have never had any of these things.  We are also decreasing the number of future unwanted animals by requiring the spaying or neutering of all pets that are adopted from us.

Adoption Requirements

bullet The adoption fee for a dog is $75.00. The fee for a cat is $65.00.  This covers the sterilization of the animal, the first  shot,  and the first dose of wormer.
bullet All animals adopted from the Humane Society must be spayed or neutered.
bulletIf you adopt an adult animal that isn't already altered, you must have it spayed or neutered within 30 days.
bulletIf you adopt a puppy or kitten, you must have it spayed or neutered within 120 days.  Talk to your vet about age requirements for the surgery.
bulletYou must provide a safe home for the pet.
bulletYou must provide standard healthcare for the animal by keeping them vaccinated and on heartworm prevention.
bulletYou must submit an adoption application.  Contact us and we'll email you one.

Requirements for Relinquishing Animals to the Humane Society

We get many requests to take unwanted pets to try to find homes for them.  We would love to help every animal that comes our way, but our funds won't allow us to.  Because of this, we have had to turn down several animals.  To try to help more animals, we have set some requirements that must be met before we can accept any pets to be placed for adoption.

Unwanted Pets:

bulletWe don't accept any pit bulls or pit bull mixes.
bulletThere is a minimum donation of $35.00 for any animal relinquished to us.
bulletAll animals must be up to date on their vaccinations.
bulletAll adult animals must be spayed or neutered before they come into our care, at the expense of the current owner.
bulletWe can take the pet to our weekend adoption for a cage fee of $10.00.  This is just for one day in our care.   If the dog or cat is not adopted, it will be returned to you.

Stray Animals:

bulletWe try to take any stray animal that is found.  We don't always have space for adult dogs, but can usually accommodate puppies and kittens.  They are easier to house together whereas the adults all need their own space.
bulletDonations are appreciated and very much needed.

Internet Listing:

bulletIf you have an animal that you need help finding a home for, we can list them on our website and Petfinder.com for a donation of $20.00.   This applies to animals that remain in your possession.

You can help the West Feliciana Humane Society care for the animals you see on this web site.    Our animals are all fed high quality food so that they can regain any weight they may have lost while they were out on their own. We fix it up just right with canned and dry foods.

The dogs all get cookies every time they come back in from doing their "business".   The cats get treats just because the dogs did. Every animal has toys and chewies.  The dogs sleep on blankets or beds that are up off the ground.  The cats all have hammocks or kitty condos.

The dogs are all on heartworm preventative, everyone is treated for fleas, and they are all up to date on their shots.  If anyone requires medications or skin treatments, they are provided.

We depend on the kindness of animal lovers like you for the resources to continue to keep these animals happy and healthy.  We do all of this so that these animals can become a member of a family to be loved and cherished.
